Vivian Maier spent most of her adult life in the North Shore suburbs working as a nanny and caretaker while constantly roaming the city and suburban streets, camera in hand. Capturing life and the vibrance of summer, the exhibition primarily features everyday summer scenes in Chicago and the North Shore suburbs, circa 1955-1971, with an occasional shot from her time spent visiting New York and Los Angeles.
Celebrating summer, the city, and one of Chicago’s own, Russell Bowman Art Advisory and the Jeffrey Goldstein Collection proudly welcome Vivian Maier’s work back home with the exhibition, Summer in the City, opening June 21, with a reception open to the public from 5-8pm.
